There will be a significant hiring uptick in the next 5 year years1. Considering the the number of unemployed people out there, and new graduates flooding the job market, finding the right possible candidate will become harder than ever. The candidate hunt process can be extremely time consuming, and it can be difficult to decide who to bring in for the interview process, as on-site interviews burn valuable hours, and can be extremely costly for the interviewee if they have to travel. If there was only a giant centralized database full of reputation, candidates, and an analysis of this data.
So, I have purchased myself a Dell M4440 (Precision). All my previous laptops have been think pads, so I had no issue with installing Linux on them because of thinkwiki. Within the first half-hour of booting it up, I started installing Linux on it. I had some problems finding a boot CD with all the proper drivers, but then decided on KNOPPIX-6.0.1. The distro I chose was obviously Gentoo, as it is my favorite distro. Most of the stuff worked out of the box. Anyways, I'll tell you more about what I'm trying to get working, after the break!
I've been looking on craigslist a while for interesting posts. It's surprising how stupid some companies are. I sent my first piece of advice to a company today, let's see how they respond...

The Openmoko project utilized the Glamo chip from Smediatech in their phone, the GTAv02 under the notion that Smediatech would open up the documentation. Smediatech is a graphics chip manufacturer. They built the Glamo graphics accelerator chipset for the OpenMoko Freerunner (GTAv02), Openmoko's flagship cellular phone. Part of the precondition for using the chip, Openmoko was to review the documentation, and choose to release some of it. Though, Smediatech backed out of the deal to release the documentation to the community.
This guy is a terrible professor in my opinion. Do not take his class. He has a rating of 1.8 on ratemyprofessor. He constantly rambles about things completely unrelated to the class. He additionally tries to teach us life lessons. He's a nice guy trying to make a living, but maybe he should try something else...
Internet terrorism has been a scare tactic used by DHS to cause tax payers to invest billions of dollars in the software security industry. In reality, internet terroism doesn't exist. Could someone tell me what's going on?
Cloud computing is a huge new market. The largest uses of Cloud computing include start-ups, and server consolidation. With the economy doing so terribly there are many start-ups whose resources are under the gun, and are being pushed by their VCs to bring up efficiency. Additionally, companies with huge surplus equipment, and bandwidth are looking to cut it from their overheads. This is where cloud computing comes in. There are many generic cloud computing services out there. One of the premier services is Amazon's EC2. Though, these cloud computing services, even being run by large companies who have 99.9% uptime. Though, their hosting arms seem to lack this reliability.
I'm pretty sure McCain will win for president. Well what do you guys think?
My reasons are simple. The democrats are highly fragmented. This will completely destroy the democratic vote, and this has been the source of the democrats losing for the past 8 years. My other point is that the American public is afraid of Obama. He's a black, (allegedly) Muslim man. McCain is a patriotic, avuncular hero. Huge difference... Anyways, we'll see come November.
EDIT:
I am beginning to doubt McCain. Palin has put him in a bad place. Obama is getting on the offensive again. Hmm....
I've lost quite a bit of my content on my laptop's hard drive. This is -bad-. Anyways, I should be making a full recovery in a couple weeks.
